As the RS 250 uses a second oil pump to lubricate the gear shafts, the two bearings on the output side of the gear must be sealed on one side with a seal. The oil pump then presses the oil through holes in the gearbox shaft directly against the shift forks and bearings.
The bearing codes are 6305.RSR C3 for the gearbox output shaft and 6203.RSR TN9 C3 for the gearbox input shaft. The 6305 was unfortunately not available with a polyamide cage (TN9).
For the installation of the crankshaft the crankcase was once again cleaned. The sealing surfaces of the housing must be clean. No grease should remain so that the sealant “Dirko Grey” will work proper. The screws are alternately tightened diagonally with a torque of 14 Nm, then finally with 20 Nm. The original screws have been replaced by corrosion-resistant screws A4-80 with a high strength, which corresponds to the tensile strength of the screws originally used.
After installation, all openings were closed with some tape to protect the crankshaft from dust and dirt.
